DEPARTMENT OF HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION
Department of Hospital Administration is the pioneering department in Telangana which was commissioned in the year 2018 providing Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, popularly known as MDHA. It is the first department in the Telangana State providing teaching and training to the MBBS graduates in Hospital Administration and Management.
MISSION
The mission of the department is to educate future healthcare leaders to apply evidence-based practices and critical thinking skills toward the delivery, organization, and management of health and health care services within culturally diverse environments.
OBJECTIVES
- To discover the principles of health service administration and management that allow for successful planning, organization, management, and evaluation within a healthcare centre or service.
- To be able to handle the most common techniques and methodologies used in clinical and healthcare management in order to critically examine the healthcare system.
- To gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for making decisions in the field of the healthcare organization.
- To learn about the political, social, legal and financial basis of the healthcare system.
TEACHING PROGRAMMES
- MD (Hospital Administration) Course:
The department runs a 3 years post graduate (MD) course in hospital administration from 2018 leading to award of degree of MD (HA). The Resident Administrators are posted in various areas of the Hospital to observe and understand the functioning of the ward/service area. They also assist the faculty in “hands-on” management of various hospital activities, and, in turn, gain valuable experience of hospital management. Admission to the MD(HA) programme is through a competitive exam NEET-PG. The MD program has formative and summative assessments for holistic assessment of candidates undertaking the course. Resident’s performance is continuously assessed through direct observations and faculty feedback system.
- BSc Medical Record Sciences:
B.Sc in Medical Record Science is an undergraduate program designed to train students in the management and maintenance of medical records and health information systems. This field plays a crucial role in ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient records within healthcare settings.

1.CME hosted by the department under the aegis of AHHA (Association of Health and Hospital administrators), Hyderabad, at Alumni Association Building, Gandhi Medical College, Musheerabad, Secunderabad on 31st August 2019.
2. ISHWMCON 2022 , International conference in collaboration with Indian society of Hospital waste management (ISHWM), Delhi and technical collaboration with Commissionerate of Health and Family welfare and Mission Director – NHM, Government of Telangana at Alumni Association Building, Gandhi Medical College, Musheerabad, Secunderabad on 17th and 18th June 2022.
